The Believer's School of Prayer

The Believer's School of Prayer
I have had this book for nearly 15 years I never cease to be strengthened and blessed by it. Using Scriptural passages and Jesus' teachings, each short yet powerful chapter will teach and encourage you that your prayer life can be profound, powerful and far more fulfilling than you thought possible. While the book not only teaches about the answer to personal prayer, it goes so much much further to reveal how prayer will bring your relationship with God to new heights and allow Him to fulfill His purpose and blessings for your life. This is surely a book that you can read again and again and each time learn something new. I have found so much strength, encouragament, hope and revelation with each reading. This book is a must read for every believer.

The Believer's Secret of Holiness
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (April, 1984)
Author: Andrew Murray
Average review score:

"Without Holiness, no man shall see God."
"Until man, both as a creature and as a sinner, learns how high God is above him, how different and distant he is from God, the holiness of God will have little real value or attraction."

So writes pastor Andrew Murray; a Godly voice from the past that had a divine revelation of the holiness of God, and was able to communicate this desire of God ("Be ye holy...for I am holy")to the people of God.

It is a shame that there are not any contemporary voices that can write upon such a vital topic as the believer's need for holiness, but this is a testimony as to how modernism and unbelief have invaded so-called Christianity.

Those who are longing for a deeper walk with God, will appreciate the clarity and simplicity with which Pastor Murray guides the reader into a life of holiness. For you cannot properly appropriate by faith that which you do not know. After reading this book, the holiness of God will not only be clearer, but will also spark a burning in your heart for the Lord to "show me your glory."

Author: Andrew Murray
Average review score:

The Greatest Example of Faith
Andrew Murray writes about the virtue of waiting - being still before God in order to come to know God. Much of his writing is deep and one must focus on what he is saying, but once you do this you will find his writing is rich. The Secret of Waiting encompasses much: Waiting for God to reveal Himself Waiting in prayer Waiting in circumstances When you learn to wait on God you discover how great God is, how immense his love is towards us, how powerful He is and how involved He wants to be in our lives.

Berlin, Story of a Battle
Published in Hardcover by Greenwood Publishing Group (March, 1977)
Author: Andrew Tully
Average review score:

Death throes of the Reich
"As for the ridiculous hundred million Slavs... Surely I have a right to remove millions of an inferior race ............" (Adolf Hitler) "Kill, Red Army men, kill! No Fascist is innocent, be he alive, be he as yet unborn. Kill!" (Ilya Ehrenburg) On April 27, 1945, Andrew Tully arrived in Berlin. As the war-correspondent for the Boston "Traveler", he was one of the first three Americans to enter the battle-torn city. He stayed for three days as guest of a Russian artillery battalion, during which he accumulated hundreds of notes and impressions. For the next seventeen years, Tully gathered the eye-witness statements, war diaries, letters, and historical information which forms the basis of his book. Until the publication of Cornelius Ryan's "The Last Battle", Tully's was the definitive work on the fall of Berlin. The progression of the Allied armies toward Berlin and the growing chaos in the Reich are vividly chronicled. Tully captures the atmosphere of desperation in Hitler's bunker, and the ramifications of the Fuhrer's descent into insanity for the people of Berlin. Because the personal stories of ordinary individuals -- German civilians, housewives, Hitler Youth, SS, Mohnke Girls, nurses, Red Army soldiers -- are interwoven into the historical account, the book sometimes reads more like an exciting novel than a documentary. Tully's presentation has a distinctly Soviet-sympathetic slant. He refers to the War as a German - Russian conflict, and most of the sixteen pages of photos come from the Soviet archive. He focuses on the massive Russian losses during the push westward and the attack on Berlin. As General Bradley had warned Eisenhower, a battle waged in Berlin from street to street, house to house, would cost over 100,000 casualties, "a pretty stiff price to pay... especially when we've got to fall back and let the other fellow take over." The American forces stopped at the Elbe five days before the Russian offensive began on the Oder. And the Red Army took over 102,000 casualties in the first wave of fighting. Tully unflinchingly details the savagery of the second wave of the Red Army, the occupation by the brutal Cossacks and barbarous Mongols, the riot of looting and raping once the city had fallen. However, this depravity is "balanced" by German civilians' accounts of astonishing cruelty by the SS toward their own people and the testimonies of Tully's Russian contributors about the suffering of their families under the German invaders. It is this human dimension that makes this book great. It is long out-of-print, but definitely worth finding and reading.

The Bermuda Triangle, Antichrist, and UFOs
Published in Paperback by Dorrance Publishing Co (July, 2002)
Authors: Andrew G., Sr. Barker and Andrew Barker
Average review score:

ANDREW BARKER DELIVERS
As you may notice from its title, this is not a typical book about the Bermuda triangle. Is seeks to give answers rather than perpetuate the mystery. Using the bible, yes I said bible, or the record of the ancients as barker will say, barker has come up with a very interesting theory and possible answer to the mystery of the triangle. What's that? What does the bible have to say about the Bermuda triangle, after reading this book im sure you'll agree that is says a whole lot. This book has challenged me to think on a higher level as to what or more importantly who may be behind this whole mystery. If I write anymore I'll give the book away. Get the book, its good reading!

The Best Business Stories of the Year 2001 (Best Business Stories of the Year (Paper))
Published in Paperback by Vintage Books (13 March, 2001)
Authors: Andrew Leckey and Marshall Loeb
Average review score:

Great; please continue series
This is a terrific book. Every article in it is well-written and interesting, unusual for an anthology as they almost always contain at least one or two flawed pieces. Not here. And what a range...from the usual suspects of Fortune, Wall Street Journal, etc. to the Detroit Free Press and even Mother Jones. The next volume for 2002 is also great.

The Best Christmas Pagent Ever Study Guide, Classroom Ed.
Published in Paperback by Progeny Press (January, 1994)
Author: Andrew Clausen
Average review score:

Excellent Christmas Story for the whole family!
My teacher read this story to me in first grade, and it has been a favorite ever since.

It is about the Herdmann's, a motley crue of siblings who terrorize the children at their school. One day, they attend Sunday School, thinking that there are refreshment there. Instead, they are casting for the Christmas play. The Herdmann's bully their way into the major parts of the play. Of course, they are unfamiliar with the story of Jesus, and have to be told the story. Along the way, crazy antics from the Hermann's ensue, and there are some very funny one-liners.

This is a wholesome story that kids will get a kick out of, and grown-ups will chuckle at.

I have the book, the unabridged cassette tape (which my kids and I listen to in the car during the holiday road trips) and am planning on buying the movie (same title as book) starring Loretta Switt (from MASH). I hope it will come out on DVD, but for now it is available on VHS. It is hilarious! A must for your collection!
